Have you heard the adage that behind every successful man is a good woman?  Well, as PSG’s Director of Worldwide Consultant Care (office manager for short) my goal is to be the terrific woman behind our team of consultants, giving them the support they need to knock the socks off our clients.

My path to PSG and this position has been a great journey that took several decades.  I have a degree from the University of Minnesota in Speech Communications but I didn’t plan to ‘be’ anything other than an educated mother and community activist. Much to my surprise, I’ve needed to help support our family!

In my 20s I worked in the hotel industry, making my way up the management ladder. It was during those years that I observed the individual supporting the ‘top dog’ and thought she had a great job.  She juggled tons of balls (information, duties, needs and wants), freeing him up to do what he did best. I wanted that job.

However, being a support person didn’t seem like the right thing for a college educated woman to pursue during the years of growing opportunities for women. You know…why be in the background when you could easily be out front? So over the next decade and a half, I owned a transportation brokerage agency with my husband, I was a special events coordinator for a national non-profit, I was a convention coordinator for a dot.com, and I was the assistant director of a program at the University. I was also active in our community as an elected school board member, officer on several boards - Chamber of Commerce, education foundation, annual community celebration, and church festival, even a scout leader. I enjoyed each of these but something was missing.

Then in the late ’90s I was hired as the Regional Office Manager for a GA based consulting firm. Opening and running a regional office in Minnesota while supporting the local and traveling consultants was terrific.  I was closer to my ideal job than I had ever been, except that I was alone a great deal of the time. When that position was eliminated, I landed here. I have my ideal job; my work is interesting, important and appreciated. I am juggling those balls and couldn’t be happier. Hopefully we are knocking socks off too.

Outside of work, I am married to my college sweetheart, have four adult children, three grandkids, two dogs and a cat. Life has never been better….
