Mary Campbell has been helping government leaders meet the opportunities and challenges of public service since 1986. She specializes in adapting best practices in decision-making, problem-solving, performance management and process improvement to the complex and dynamic environment of the public sector.
From 2002 to 2006, Mary served as the Special Assistant for Management, Accountability and Performance to both Governor Locke and Governor Gregoire. In that role, she supported cabinet directors and the Governor’s Chief of Staff in designing and implementing Washington State’s approach to performance management. She has been a featured presenter on diverse topics related to performance management, team development, and conflict resolution at professional conferences across the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
As a performance consultant, Mary works closely with clients to adapt proven management practices to their unique culture and context. As a professional facilitator and trainer, she creates an environment that builds trust, promotes collaboration, and fosters breakthroughs. With an independent perspective and pragmatic approach, Mary helps groups think in fresh ways to produce decisions that are feasible, relevant, and supported by the participants. She introduces appropriate analytical and decision-making tools in real-time, allowing participants to work with energy and purpose toward solutions that make sense.
Mary’s education includes an MS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MPA from The Evergreen State College. She has additional training and certification in mediation, large group facilitation, Baldrige assessments, Balanced Scorecard, and the process improvement methodologies of Lean and Six Sigma. She has taught for the University of Maryland, The Evergreen State College, the University of Washington, and South Puget Sound Community College. |
