Bill Bancroft works with companies, organizations and communities to overcome obstacles to change.  As founder and Principal of Dallas-based Conbrio, a strategy and process advisory firm, he brings 17 years of experience with clients leading an array of projects that include strategic planning – including the use of scenarios – culture change, team building, internal communication, implementation planning and the formulation of balanced scorecards.

Among those he has served are Jones Lang LaSalle, The Staubach Company and its partner DTZ, BNSF Railway, Starwood’s Harmony Development, Webb Financial and Gruen Manufacturing.  For Big Four accounting firms PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte & Touche over a 14-year period, he worked extensively with partners and managers across the U.S. with their strategy as they pursued the biggest accounts.  He has worked with The Staubach Company on several projects over a number of years, including the Staubach-DTZ presence in South America and the partnership relationship between Staubach and DTZ.  He recently designed and led scenario projects for The Stratford Company and Jones Lang LaSalle.

In the not-for-profit area, he has recently completed visioning and implementation projects for the Custom Publishing Council, the American Red Cross Dallas Chapter, Habitat for Humanity International and the North Texas Commission.  For the Red Cross, Habitat and the commission, he designed projects using café discussion principles and graphic facilitation.  The Habitat project with 140 participants also involved leading edge computer-driven, instant feedback technology.

In the public arena, he has led scenario projects for the San Antonio Housing Authority and the Texas cities of Farmers Branch and Garland. He recently completed a culture change project in the City of Mesquite and has worked with mayors and councils in Allen, Flower Mound, Garland, Irving, Mesquite and North Richland Hills, leading their annual strategic visioning retreats.  He led a strategic planning project in the community of Santa Cruz Arriba, outside the capital city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  In each case, Bill focused on designing processes and leading workshops allowing participants to discover common ground and a shared vision for the future.

Bill has more than 30 years experience writing and editing for newsletters, newspapers and magazines, including serving as a correspondent for the Kiplinger Texas Letter.  He has written extensively about business, economics, real estate, universities, school systems and cities.  His articles have appeared in the New York Times Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, Fortune, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post and Pegasus Communications’ The Systems Thinker.  He is currently working on a book on best practices for virtual meetings.

His writing and ability to manage projects has led to his working with clients to formulate and execute communications plans, including producing a range of materials from written and oral presentations to brochures to web site content.  His latest effort is to capture the strategy in words and produce the offering brochure for a $300 million land fund.

Bill is an Associate of The Grove Consultants International, the San Francisco-based firm that is one of the leaders worldwide in using graphics and graphic recording with groups and teams in order to help them be more creative and productive.  The Grove is also a leader in using process around teams.  He is also a network member of The Public Strategies Group, the Minnesota-based firm known for their work in reinventing government. He is  fluent in Spanish; his strategic visioning work with community leaders in Santa Cruz Arriba, Honduras, was done entirely in Spanish.  He is on the boards of the Greater Dallas Planning Council, The Association for Strategic Planning – Dallas-Fort Worth chapter and the International Forum of Visual Practitioners and on the advisory board for Vision North Texas.

Bill Bancroft received his B.A. from George Washington University.  He is active in church activities and is particularly interested in community development in Central and South America.
