Summary of Engagement
Contract Period: 1998
PSG prepared a series of approaches that would focus the Department on its core mission ("clearing the decks"). Department staff then took these approaches and translated them into action steps that DHS would take.
The development of an extensive workbook entitled Clearing The Decks was part of this effort.
Results Achieved
- The strategic planning retreat received very high evaluations from the participants.
- Strategies were developed in five critical areas identified by DHS leadership. This helped establish a new strategic direction.
- A plan was developed to maintain this direction through an expected change in executive leadership due to an impending gubernatorial election.
