PSG served as Iowa's 'transformation partner', a cabinet level role with responsibility for building capacity and successfully implementing dramatic improvements in service and cost throughout the state. PSG implemented a results management system (ResultsIowa), including a website to report progress at www.resultsiowa.org. Governing Magazine's 2005 Grading the States report noted, "Iowa is a leader among states in the collection, production, use, and publication of quality performance information...There is extensive evidence of the use of performance information during the budget process." Kaizen and ZOOM process improvement efforts also contributed to the results achieved in Iowa.
The PSG-Iowa partnerhship improved results in veterans' health care, child welfare, customer service, corrections, natural resources, budgeting, regulation, revenue, and internal services, among others. PSG provided strategy development, coaching, training, leadership development, employee engagement, and performance measurement and reporting.
