The State of Washington
As a partner to the state's governor and Office of Financial Management, PSG developed a bold approach to budget-setting that focuses on buying the best results for citizens based on available resources. PSG helped close a $2 billion budget gap through the Budgeting for Outcomes process. Our successful partnership led to Washington being recognized as a finalist for the Harvard Innovations in American Government Award.
The State of Iowa
PSG served as Iowa’s “Reinvention Partner,” saving more than $200 million and improving outcomes across state government, including: 99.8 percent of children moved to foster care free from abuse, permit processing times often cut by a factor of ten, recidivism dropped from 46 percent to 35 percent, and state agencies paid more than $1 million less for internal services. “Iowa Charter Agencies” won a Harvard Innovations in American Government Award.
The New York State Office of Real Property Services
PSG was commissioned to develop a five- to seven-year strategy for achieving property tax equity across New York State. PSG's solution and our three-year implementation plan were used by ORPS to successfully advance its property tax agenda. The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) gave ORPS its 2001 International Property Tax Achievement Award in recognition of the Department's success in making the property tax system more visible, open and easy to understand.
Illinois Department of Children and Family Services
PSG supported Illinois DCFS in adopting Performance Based Contracting, an approach that changed the state's focus from maintaining children in foster care to finding them permanent homes. As a result of PSG's work, more children were moved to adoption in FY1999 than in the entire period from 1987-94. This work won a Harvard Innovations in American Government Award.
